WHAT

WE’RE

ALL ABOUT

DISCLAIMER: We’ve tried to name these things about a million times.

It’s just not going to happen. We’ve had copious suggestions from friends and family and random strangers, some quite viable, others just downright funny. As per one of the suggestions, they’re currently being referred to as ‘Ballsaxs’ within our household, but unfortunately we don’t think this will fly with the general market. That being said, if you have a name suggestion, we’d love to hear it.

SO, WHAT ARE THEY?

As much as we’d love to just say ‘they’re whatever you want them to be’, that’s a bit of a cop-out. So, as far as explaining them goes, they’re:

  • a handmade carpet for your exercise ball.

  • a more attractive alternative to a yoga ball as a desk chair.

  • flexible seating for your living room, dining room, you name it.

  • the most glam (and comfy) exercise ball you’ll ever use.

  • easy to store —they can be deflated and packed into a moving box (or even a wine box).

  • machine washable — the unique handmade covers zip off.

  • and definite conversation starters.

…AND HOW ARE THEY MADE?

Most of the balls are handmade at a workshop in northern Thailand, providing safe, reliable employment as well as fair wages to over 30 individuals. The rest are made by employees working from their homes in more remote mountain villages, providing income in areas where employment opportunities are scarce. This also allows them to stay at home with their children while remaining employed.

The materials used are primarily garment factory remnants which have been dyed using a process with very low environmental impact. Because of this, as well as the handmade nature of the product, each ball is unique. This means that the colour, size, and style can be customized— and it also means that the exact colour and texture will vary from ball to ball, depending upon the fabric available at the time.
